Day one, done! I spent the afternoon with the girls (aged 4 and 8) on the back deck with a box of acrylic paints and a mission to create something “celestial”. I purchased a bag of wooden stars and a bag of wooden circles from AC Moore to get us inspired. I guess that I didn’t read the bag well enough because they lifted and peeled apart when we added paint. No worries, the kids worked through that surprise and thought it added a cool 3-dimension look to their paintings. However, the peeling effect diminished as they dried…

For this challenge, I decided to update a faded little Halloween yard sign I purchased from Big Lots years ago. Originally, I think it was supposed to glow in the dark, but those things never seem to work for me. I loved the little owl perched on a crescent moon, but thought it needed an update and some color! Inspired by the bones on the chest, I chose to go with a Day of the Dead kind of look for that cutie pie owl.

I’m pleased with the outcome and will seal it with some Krylon acrylic spray. I’m a bit messy with my paints, which is fine for outdoor art… but, I hope to have a steady hand return by the end of this challenge! Hahaha
I’d love to see your attempts at the CELESTIAL theme. Remember to use the hashtags #TMCcrafts31 #TMCcrafts #themagicalcircleschool
Love the art! The owl is really cool!
